Walara Seaview Aged Care is a significant redevelopment of the existing residential aged care facility in Ardrossan, delivering contemporary accommodation and shared outdoor environments that respond to the changing needs of regional aged care. Working alongside Brown Falconer and the wider consultant team, the landscape forms an integral part of creating a welcoming, therapeutic environment that supports residents, visitors and staff throughout every stage of later life.

The landscape design is centred on creating accessible and engaging outdoor spaces that encourage residents to leave their rooms, connect with others and enjoy the restorative benefits of nature. A network of sheltered gardens, walking paths, communal courtyards and comfortable seating areas provides opportunities for quiet reflection, gentle exercise, family visits and everyday social interaction, while supporting ease of movement and intuitive wayfinding.

Responding to Ardrossan's coastal setting, the planting palette draws inspiration from the local landscape, incorporating resilient species selected for their ability to thrive in exposed coastal conditions while providing seasonal interest, shade and habitat. The design balances sensory experiences, comfort and long-term resilience, creating gardens that continue to mature alongside the community they serve.
