Park Land Trails Rest Stops
The Adelaide Park Lands Trail Rest Stops project seeks to enhance the accessibility, inclusion, and overall experience of one of the city's most iconic recreational circuit, a 19.2km loop that weaves through the diverse precincts of Adelaide’s Park Lands and North Adelaide. Building on the City of Adelaide’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2024–2028, CLOVER has delivered comprehensive design guidelines and context-sensitive concept designs for rest stops along the trail. These rest stops have been strategically located to support varying distances between stops, guided by a hierarchy of need and an understanding of the surrounding landscape character.
Â
These guidelines establish a recognisable identity for the Trail while embedding Universal Design principles to support diverse users, including people with disabilities and their carers. A holistic and inclusive design approach will ensure the rest stops respond to the varied Park Lands settings, contributing to a more welcoming, equitable, and usable public realm. This strategy and design toolkit will form the basis for future implementation, helping remove participation barriers and improving connections between communities and the city.
