Nelshaby Reservoir

With a long history as part of the region’s water infrastructure, Nelshaby Reservoir is evolving into a landscape valued for its wetlands, wildlife and potential for nature-based recreation.

The masterplan for the Regional Council of Port Pirie explores ecotourism, trails and passive recreation while prioritising biodiversity conservation and environmental improvement.

The site also contains springs of significance to Nukunu people, adding an important cultural layer to the landscape and its future planning. The masterplan seeks to balance these environmental and cultural values with carefully considered opportunities for people to experience and enjoy the reservoir.
