Karbeethan Reserve

Planning for Karbeethan Reserve Stage 4 grew from a broader challenge identified through CLOVER’s work at Elliot Goodger Memorial Park: several sporting organisations were growing beyond the capacity of their existing facilities.

CLOVER and insideEDGE were subsequently engaged by the Town of Gawler to test whether Karbeethan Reserve could accommodate a new home for the Gawler BMX Club. Spatial planning explored a major-event BMX track, grandstands, clubrooms, freestyle facilities and a velodrome alongside shared carparking, irrigated turf and community recreation areas.

The concept also sought to retain the majority of mature trees within the southern portion of the site and identify opportunities for facilities to be shared with neighbouring sporting uses. The resulting options provided Council with a clear basis for considering the future of BMX within the broader recreation precinct.
