Hahndorf’s historic Main Street is one of South Australia’s most recognised tourism destinations, attracting significant numbers of visitors while continuing to function as the main street for the local community.

Following preparation of the initial concept masterplan for Mount Barker District Council, CLOVER has continued as Landscape Architect leading the masterplanning and detailed landscape design in partnership with Council and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.

The revitalisation carefully integrates contemporary public realm improvements within the heritage character of the street, addressing footpaths and accessibility, street trees and planting, lighting, furniture, carparking, wayfinding, interpretive elements and public art. The project also considers broader traffic movement, pedestrian safety and congestion to create a safer, greener and more enjoyable Main Street for residents, businesses and visitors.
