Elliot Goodger Memorial Oval

Few sporting precincts have to accommodate as many competing users as Elliot Goodger Memorial Oval. Football, cricket, netball, dog training, BMX, Air Force Cadets, Rotary and broader community activities all operate within this large and challenging sloping site.

CLOVER and insideEDGE worked with the Town of Gawler, sporting clubs and local community to develop a long-term masterplan that balances these diverse needs. Extensive consultation and spatial testing identified opportunities for a junior AFL oval and multipurpose football and netball clubhouse, while also recognising that not every activity could sustainably expand within the existing precinct.

The process demonstrates the value of testing options openly with stakeholders to reach practical decisions about how limited community land can best be used.
