Medium-density infill development in Magill
CLOVER developed the landscape architecture for this medium-density infill development in Magill, working collaboratively with the project architect and client to maximise both development potential and landscape outcomes. Responding to the South Australian Planning and Design Code, the landscape strategy carefully balanced site constraints with opportunities to create a greener, more liveable residential environment.
The design focused on delivering meaningful greening within a compact urban setting through increased soil volumes, carefully positioned small and medium canopy trees, vertical greening and climate-responsive planting. Microclimate analysis informed species selection, ensuring planting would thrive while providing shade, visual amenity and long-term resilience. Every landscape element was designed to contribute to the character of the development while enhancing outlook, privacy and resident amenity.
CLOVER worked closely with the consultant team to integrate landscape with the architectural and civil design, ensuring planting, open space, servicing and built form operated cohesively. By exceeding the minimum landscape expectations of the Planning and Design Code, the proposal demonstrates how thoughtful landscape architecture can support higher-quality urban infill while strengthening biodiversity, urban cooling and neighbourhood character.
