Dunstan Adventure Playground

Reimagining one of Adelaide’s most iconic adventure playgrounds required a careful balance between nostalgia, contemporary play, inclusion, landscape restoration and connection to Country.

CLOVER was appointed lead consultant to transform Dunstan Adventure Playground on the banks of Karrawirra Parri / River Torrens into a contemporary regional playspace while retaining the adventurous spirit that generations of children associate with the site. The design includes a new interpretation of the famous embankment slide alongside diverse play and landscape experiences.

Working with the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and Greg Grabasch of Brave and Curious, CLOVER facilitated workshops with the Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation alongside school engagement, community consultation and workshops with Council and Elected Members. These conversations informed opportunities to embed Kaurna culture, stories and knowledge while restoring natural landscape elements characteristic of the river corridor.
