Anglicare Woodville West
The Woodville West Redevelopment transforms an established suburban site into a contemporary mixed-density community, demonstrating how thoughtful landscape architecture can create welcoming neighbourhoods where higher-density living is balanced with nature, wellbeing and everyday connection.
Working alongside AnglicareSA, City Collective and the wider consultant team, CLOVER developed the landscape architecture for a diverse mix of affordable housing, including apartments, villas and assisted living accommodation. The landscape was carefully designed to unite the different built forms, creating a cohesive identity while ensuring residents have meaningful access to green space regardless of where they live.
A network of shared gardens, pedestrian pathways and communal open spaces encourages walking, social interaction and opportunities for residents to connect with one another. A community garden provides a focal point for gathering and food production, while carefully positioned trees and planting soften the built environment and create comfortable outdoor spaces throughout the development.
Responding to a challenging urban site, the landscape considers solar orientation, microclimates and the varying needs of residents. Planting has been carefully selected to thrive in everything from exposed northern aspects to shaded courtyards, providing year-round interest, privacy and biodiversity while strengthening the overall resilience of the landscape.
The result is more than an affordable housing development—it is a connected community where landscape architecture enhances liveability, supports wellbeing and demonstrates how urban infill can create greener, healthier neighbourhoods for future generations.
