CLOVER worked closely with the St Joseph’s School to design a nature-based playspace and outdoor learning environment that seamlessly extends teaching beyond the classroom. Developed through a collaborative engagement process, the landscape responds to the school's vision for contemporary education by creating flexible spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity and meaningful connections with nature.

Working closely with DesignInc Adelaide, the design integrates planting, natural materials and sensory experiences to create a rich and engaging landscape for early learners. Outdoor learning areas connect directly to the new learning spaces, blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors and supporting a variety of teaching styles, informal play and collaborative learning. Existing site features, including the established Norfolk Island Pine, were embraced as focal points within the nature play environment, providing opportunities for exploration, reflection and environmental learning.

Inspired by STEM education and nature play principles, the landscape incorporates water play, sensory experiences, shaded gathering areas and adaptable learning spaces that encourage discovery, problem solving and environmental stewardship. The result is a welcoming and resilient environment that supports the school's long-term vision while fostering imagination, wellbeing and a lifelong connection with the natural world.
