Resthaven Chiton
Nestled within the coastal landscape of Chiton, the Resthaven Development has been thoughtfully designed to promote independent living, wellbeing and connection with nature. Working alongside Brown Falconer, CLOVER developed the landscape architecture for a contemporary retirement community that embraces the unique character of the Fleurieu Peninsula while creating comfortable, accessible and inviting outdoor environments for residents and visitors.
Responding to the Beyond design principles, the landscape celebrates the site's coastal setting through indigenous planting, water-wise gardens and climate-responsive design. A carefully considered mix of evergreen and deciduous trees, productive gardens and seasonal planting creates a diverse landscape that provides shade, colour and year-round interest while supporting biodiversity and reducing long-term water demand.
Communal gardens, walking paths and outdoor gathering spaces encourage residents to spend time outdoors, whether enjoying quiet moments of reflection, growing fresh produce or connecting with neighbours. Every element of the landscape was planned to support accessibility, comfort and independence, creating opportunities for recreation, social interaction and everyday wellbeing.
Designed with sustainability and longevity at its core, the landscape integrates passive irrigation opportunities, low-maintenance planting and climate-responsive design principles that will continue to mature over time. The result is a welcoming residential environment where nature, community and healthy living come together to create a lasting sense of place.
