LCA Highgate Park
The former Julia Farr Centre site is being transformed into Highgate Park, a mixed-use retirement living, aged care and residential community. Currently under construction, the 2.8-hectare redevelopment is creating a connected landscape that places people, nature and community at its heart.
Working alongside Living Choice and the broader consultant team from masterplanning through detailed design, CLOVER developed the landscape strategy, public realm and planting design to unify new and retained buildings while responding to the site's significant existing vegetation, established neighbourhood character and complex planning context. The landscape framework carefully balances tree retention, new canopy planting, circulation, public interfaces and high-quality communal open space to create a cohesive and enduring environment.
At the centre of the development is a generous public park that connects retirement living, aged care, residential townhouses and the surrounding neighbourhood. Tree-lined streets, gardens, wellness spaces, walking paths and shared outdoor areas encourage everyday activity, social connection and interaction with nature, while creating a welcoming destination for both residents and the wider community.
The design embraces the site's existing landscape character wherever possible, integrating retained significant trees with extensive new planting to establish a resilient urban forest for future generations. Through a considered and collaborative design process, the landscape supports long-term wellbeing, sustainability and a strong sense of place, creating a contemporary community that is deeply connected to its setting.
